Let’s stop feeling like a failure

Do you know what your natural talents are?

Do you have a gift? I had an early artistic talent. That discovery came at a price. I thought that being good at something meant it was also effortless.

I was wrong.

“Dude, sucking at sumthin’ is the first step towards being sorta good at something.” -Jake the dog

Fear of failure is laziness in disguise. It’s an unwillingness to pay the admission price to success. It’s code for “I am unwilling to be less than instantly exceptional at this”. It reeks of an aversion to effort. Some folks look at 10,000 hrs and decide “Sheesh, I’m not doing that”

In almost every situation there are three factors.

Your effort, skill, and luck. You control the first two. Luck is the variable outside of your control. I can’t stress this enough. Building skill takes effort.

A long time ago I heard the expression, if you want the NOUN, you need to do the VERB. What I see is a lot of people who claim to want the NOUN, and also want to avoid the VERB. Folks who want to advance in their career, but don’t want to spend less time with their family.

Folks who want to get different results from the same old actions.

We know what that is right?

Insanity.

So decide now.

Is your success worth your effort?
