Privacy Settings 101: How To Hide Your Facebook Friends List

by Sean on December 11, 2009

With the new Facebook privacy settings now in effect, by default your friends list is now public for all to see. This may not be an issue for you, but is not desired for some. If you for some reason don’t want who is in your friends list to be in the public view of everyone, here are the steps to hide it.

1. Log into facebook

2. Click on profile

3. In the box on the left titled ‘Friends’ click on the pencil.

4. Uncheck the ‘Show my friends on my profile’ box

5. Click the pencil again

There you have it, stalker dodgin’ complete. Your friends list is hidden. Please share this link, the life you save could be your own.

    This no longer works.

Your friends list is always visible to your friends now. Thus, I deleted my Facebook account.
If I want to hide my friends list FROM my friends, I should be able to. Now, I can't.. so, goodbye, Facebook.
  • It does in fact work. Check out my profile listing.

  • Good advice, although "stalker dodgin' complete" is a strong term considering all of the other privacy settings we're required to know about and adjust. The following is a blog post from yesterday that some here might find interesting:
