Parking Justice In Seattle

Parking in Seattle is challenging with scarce off-street parking. This issue is aggravated by those who would flout the law, and park on the street in excess of 3 days and/or park too close to driveways, making it difficult to enter and exit streets.

Now is the time for justice! There is help a phone call away. By contacting the Seattle Parking Authority you can exact your own form of parking justice, and keep those streets just a bit safer for…parking.

For your viewing pleasure, the parking statute:

Seattle Municipal Code

I would like to add that my sister has an old, bitchy neighbor who called and had her car towed because it was in one place for 3 days. You know why? She was on vacation. I would wait at least a week before calling on a car. Don't be a douche about it. As for blocking a driveway, I find it rare when someone doesn't get a ticket for that.

Good point. I presuppose good judgement.

I am glad to see others posting about these issues. I found that painting the curb near my driveway helped reduce the number of people blocking my driveway. See here for more details: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/parking/d…
As to cars parked left abandoned in front of my house, I report them. Several times the abandoned cars had been stolen and just dumped in front of my house. Better to report them sooner rather than later.

Having to park more than 5′ from a driveway is fucking ridiculous.

Thanks for your comment. If you have ever had to make a 5 point turn coming out of a driveway, it makes sense.

Its amazing to me that people will park right in front of your driveway when there is plenty of parking across the street. And never get a ticket for it. What happened to common courtesy?
